CHISPA is the Coalition of Hispanic Instructors in Support of Parental Awareness.
CHISPA was established by Hispanic CREO for the purpose of developing a strategic alliance with Hispanic teachers throughout the State of Florida and throughout the nation. CHISPA's Mission is to identify, recruit, train, educate and motivate Hispanic teachers to become Certified Champions of Parental Awareness in their schools and districts.
CHISPA's Champion Certification process requires that the Hispanic teacher be certified with the State, have at least 3 years of teaching experience, understand the importance of Parental Awareness and is willing to indentify, recruit, train, educate and motivate other Hispanic teachers to join the cause and become CHISPA Champions.
Once a CHISPA Champion identifies a Hispanic student at risk of not graduating in their class, then that CHISPA Champion will go thru the proper channels to contact the parents or caretakers of that Hispanic student and briefly inform them of the various Educational Options available to them and ask that they contact Hispanic CREO’s hotline.
Then, Hispanic CREO will send parents or caretakers instructional materials on the Educational Options available and a step by step process on how to exercise and implement these options. Hispanic CREO’s hotline will answer any questions these concerned parents may have. Hispanic CREO will then check their progress on the implementation weekly. Thereafter, these parents will be trained to become Advocates of Parental Awareness in their community; thus, creating a parental awareness network.
In addition, Hispanic CREO will immediately make every effort to enroll the student in Tutorial and Mentoring Programs which it will establish or be made available by partnering up with other organizations. Every quarter, CHISPA will honor these CHISPA Champions at a brunch meeting in a different County recognizing and rewarding his or her hard work and outstanding effort for the cause.
